European Platform of Women Scientists (EPWS) invites to their annual conference 2023: Navigating Gender Equality in Science: Past Achievements, Best Practices and Future Directions context.
In response to the persisting gender gap in academia, scientific and higher education institutions in the European Union have embraced Gender Equality Plans (GEPs). These plans are now prerequisites for EU funding and have stimulated private sector participation in adopting GEPs. While proceeding in this direction, they face a context in which recent political shifts and debates around gender concepts have attempted to cast doubt on the necessity of these policies.
This conference aims to address these evolving dynamics and shape the trajectory of gender equality policies in science. It provides a forum for organisations to share their experiences, both successes and challenges, thereby contributing to the continued development of sustainable gender equality practices in research and innovation.
